About Lynny’s
Lynny’s is a diner inspired concept serving familiar favorites and fun surprises in an unpretentious and friendly environment. We strive to make a space that is comfortable and memorable, where friends meet and genuine community is formed. The coffee is brewing, the eggs are frying, and the biscuits are in the oven, so come on down!

About our 12th St location
Located on East 12th Street in the heart of Austin’s African American Cultural Heritage District, Lynny’s is proud to call a deeply historic building home. For nearly 80 years, this space has served as a neighborhood gathering place—one shaped by community, creativity, and Black entrepreneurship.
The building has continuously operated as a restaurant or small business since the 1940s, beginning with Jimmie’s Alcove Grill (1940s–1980), followed by the Speakeasy Grill (1980–1985), Skyylord’s Print Shop, (late 1980s–1990s), and Galloway’s Sandwich Shop (1990s–2024). Each chapter added to the building’s story, making it a constant presence in the daily life of the neighborhood.
We are honored to carry this legacy forward. Lynny’s exists in deep respect for the generations of neighbors, makers, and entrepreneurs who built community within these walls. Our work is rooted in celebration—of place, of history, and of the vibrant cultural traditions that shape East Austin.
Whether you’re stopping in for a meal, a moment, or a gathering, we’re grateful to welcome you into a space that has always belonged to the community—and always will.
